Day 37

Yesterday started out as a drippy wet walk in the woods. At the end of my hour the sun was shining and the newly emerging leaves were painfully green, so intensely were they glistening.

Today was a mellow neighborhood walk in the sun with my children . Not a "sunglasses day", but it wasn't raining.

I'm still pondering the whole disability issue - how much choice I have about being disabled and how my attitude affects my disability. Can I have a disability and not be disabled?

I have to figure this one out.

  1. Yea!!! Colleen. I am feeling a great sense of pride in you. Are you welcoming friends along on an occasion walk of yours or are these YOUR special walks. I am so glad that you are looking at this question in your life - having just turned 50 I know that many many questions came up in my mind to ponder and work with.... I hope we hear more about your process at the MAGIC group meetings!!! I loved hearing about your talks with LUke and Tessa. Love deb

  2. It's an interesting thing you're pondering, Colleen. Of all the words I would use to describe you, "disabled" would never be one that comes to my mind. I often think about how our own narratives can be so different from those that others carry about us. I look forward to seeing how you process this. Thanks for continuing to include us in your journey. - Cami

  3. you go girl! I remember the first time I went sea kayaking - it was with you. You rolled your kayak onto the beach at Alki on a snappy little cart and when the cart wouldn't fold up nicely you whacked the cart on your metal peg to get it to work and then you calmly stowed the cart in your kayak and off we went. I remember thinking : this girl is a Stud!
